10 years ago today, a million voices cried out and then were silenced — as they all waited in queues to get into Star Wars: The Old Republic on its launch day. That’s right, it was all the way back on December 20, 2011 that SWTOR first opened its hangar doors for you to run … and run … and run wild in its space ports.
Game Director Keith Kanneg reminisced about all the memories from the last decade, and before, in a post today on the SWTOR site. Even though the next expansion, Legacy of the Sith, was delayed until February 2022, he made sure to let everyone know about the events that were ongoing in the game as the holiday season was underway:
- The anniversary vendor will offer all existing rewards and 7.0 rewards, when available, for a full year, until January 2023.
- Life Day is running until January 11, to be followed by the Feast of Prosperity event, which runs until February 1.
- Various Cartel Market sales are ongoing or will start up next week.
- Outside of the game, Star Wars Insider #207 has Darth Malgus on the cover, and you can pick up a SWTOR Anniversary gun charm in fellow EA title Apex Legends until February 15.
After Legacy of the Sith and the 7.0 update launch, players will be treated to the R-4 Anomaly Operation and, for the remainder of 2022, the continuation of your character’s personal story saga. Kanneg also teased some “exciting updates coming to PvP after 7.0” that will be shared after its launch.
Kanneg finished up by reminding everyone of the changes coming to classes and personal story coming in the 7.0 update, many of which players have already had a chance to try out on the PTR. Visuals on several planets will also see improvements, and Kanneg promised more details after 7.0 launches.
