It’s been ten years since Captain Titus led his fellow Space Marines into combat against the Ork invasion in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Now, seemingly out of nowhere he is back — voiced by Clive Standen (Vikings and Taken) — and looking to obliterate the Tyranid forces in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. This next outing is being led by WWZ developer Sabre Interactive, so you know we can expect our screens to be filled with swarms of the Xenomorph-esque creatures.
As we see at the end of the trailer, Space Marine 2 is all about third-person chaotic battles as we use Captain Titus’ arsenal of weaponry to destroy the Tyranid threat. The game will take us to various planets as we uncover hidden secrets and protect mankind. Seriously, is there anything cooler than a badass Space Marine? Oh yeah, a badass Space Marine that happens to be Clive Standen… the universe is saved!
“When Space Marine came out 10 years ago it was a huge milestone in establishing Warhammer in the minds of millions of gamers as an amazing action franchise,” says global head of licensing at Games Workshop, Jon Gillard. “Since then, it has consistently been one of the most requested games for a sequel and it gives us enormous pleasure to finally be able to show fans a small taste of what this incredibly talented team has been passionately working on in secret for the past few years. Once again gamers will be able to experience what it means to be a Space Marine in all its glory – we think they’re going to love it.”
We don’t currently have an expected release window for the game yet, but we do know that it’ll be launching on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. It’s definitely something we’re going to be watching closely, as the first game was a fantastic entry into the Warhammer 40k universe. What do you think of the announcement? Is there anything you’d like to see added to the game? Let us know in the comments.
