Pantheon December Producer Letter

Closing the year, Visionary Realms has released a December newsletter for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, discussing how the month has “been a milestone” for the game. Notably, Visionary announced that starting in late January, Pantheon will have “consistent” monthly Pre-Alpha sessions and shared several updates for the Alpha roadmap.

The success of their previous Pre-Alpha session to test performance and stability has encouraged the developers to “sustain consistent, monthly testing.” Players can expect these sessions to begin in late January. Visionary will communicate the precise date near the beginning of 2023.

For the “Roadmap to Alpha Progress,” much of the list is labeled as “To Do.” The developers explained the implementation for those features is “finished” and “scheduled, but work has not yet begun.” However, Visionary shared several updates across the board, from the programming and design of classes to the art direction behind zones and animations.

Interested in knowing what we have in store for the near future? Perhaps just curious about our current progress to Alpha? 🤔

In the case of combat and item utility, players could catch a glimpse of its current state in a recent “Adventure in the Goblin Caves” dungeon video from the developers. One viewer attributed the combat to “EverQuest all over again without the insane downtime. I adore this direction.”

With how darkly-lit the dungeon was, the devs showed off how significant lantern belts and torches are for navigation. Without them, players will explore blind, but there is a risk-reward element to it. Sacrificing navigation items to equip other items allows players to utilize a resource that may perform better at that moment. That lines up with an earlier discussion between the devs about the impact of unique items/abilities while exploring.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Pantheon, what are you hoping for in 2023? Let us know below!
