Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake shifted a whopping three million copies in its first two days on sale, roughly a quarter of the full lifetime sales of the original game’s various versions since its initial 2005 launch.
It sounds like a lot of players have been hungry for another set of Resident Evil 4 achievements, with Capcom announcing that its remake sold more than three million copies in its first couple of days. The revamped version of an all-time classic received glowing praise in our Resident Evil 4 review so it’s great to see it off to a fantastic start.
Resident Evil 4 remakes sells three million in two days
“Along with securing high scores on online review sites, the title garnered praise and attention following the release of the Chainsaw Demo, in which players could enjoy the opening of the game, resulting in worldwide sales of the title surpassing 3 million units in the first two days after the game’s release,” Capcom explains. This propels the remake into the top 30 Capcom best-sellers after just a couple of days on sale, which is rather remarkable — our recent rundown of the most successful Resident Evil games ran the numbers and placed the original Resident Evil 4 at a little over 12 million total across all versions, meaning the remake has already managed to rack up a quarter of the lifetime sales of the original game since it first launched almost two decades ago.
