Realme UI 3.0, the company’s Android 12 based update, made its debut in mid-October and after that beta versions have began trials have begun on high-end devices like the Realme GT and the GT Master Explorer. Now owners of a Realme X7 Max 5G have the opportunity to test out the new OS version.
Note that this is an Early Access program and only a few volunteers will be accepted. Also, as with any beta, there will probably be bugs and issues, so it is not recommended that you run this on your daily driver. One final bit of warning – rolling back to Android 11 will wipe the phone’s storage.
If all of that hasn’t deterred you, you can apply to the Early Access program. Here’s the process in picture form, you can also read the detailed guide by Realme. Note that only limited number of spots are available, so not everyone who applies will be accepted.
Also, the update has requirements: your phone can’t be rooted, it must run the latest software (RMX3031_11.A.21), you need more than 10 GB of free space and the battery must be at 60% or higher. Also, make sure to back up your data in case anything goes wrong and update all apps to the latest version available.
The guide linked above also has instructions on how to roll back to Realme UI 2.0/Android 11, but again, this will erase the internal storage.
Realme hasn’t set a release date for the stable Realme UI 3.0 firmware for the X7 Max. That will, naturally, depend on how many issues are discovered by beta testers. The Realme GT early access beta started in late October and that model is still waiting for the stable version, so settle in.
Note: the Realme X7 Max 5G is essentially the same hardware as the Realme GT Neo. The Neo got into the early access program last week.
