You know how the bee-bee-bee-bee-beep of a laser-targeting Guardian in Breath of the Wild can completely ruin your day? It doesn’t have to be this way. Reddit user RinHara5aki has discovered yet another weird trick within the game that can save Link’s bum from getting exploded, and all it takes is a little bit of Magnesis.
We’ve already painstakingly covered the myriad ways in which you can slay a Guardian — one of the most fearsome enemies in Breath of the Wild — and even the fact that you can ride them. But it turns out that the big metal chaps are easy to defang, too.
All you have to do is activate the Magnesis rune, and drop an item. Any item. This will generate, as RinHara5aki says, “an invisible hitbox with weird properties” which blocks the Guardians’ line of sight. You can use this to your advantage, taking them out with a quick Ancient Arrow sniper shot — just be sure not to move, because you’ll become visible again, and note that any Guardians behind you will still be able to see (and shoot) you.
