Minecraft’s popularity almost seems to be endless, and according to some new data released by YouTube (thanks, VG247), the block chopping video game’s popularity is only growing. The article states that Minecraft videos on YouTube have been viewed a trillion times — which equates to around 30,000 years of viewing time… if the views were only one second long!
The video-sharing platform has released a commemorative music video to celebrate the occasion, highlighting some of the game’s biggest content creators over the last 12 years. An interesting fact within the article notes that Minecraft YouTuber, Aphmau, currently generates the most Minecraft views and has done since 2020. It’s the first time a female creator has dominated Minecraft viewership since the first videos were uploaded in 2010.
Of course, it comes as no surprise that the game is so popular — a journey we recently covered in our Mojang Xbox Game Studios Spotlight — but what might surprise you is that it’s gaining traction, still. “Believe it or not, all that energy and output seems to be gaining momentum. As our data shows, it took around eight years for this community to generate 500 billion views, but only another two or so to double that and hit one trillion,” the YouTube article reads. “What future heights they hit we can only guess at, but as with this milestone, it will be fun to watch it happen.”
