Japanese Charts: Fatal Frame: Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse Sells Well In A Strong Week For Switch

The latest Japanese charts are now in from Famitsu, and while a number of Nintendo heavyweights continue to hold onto the top spots, this week sees an impressive Switch opening for Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (thanks, Gematsu). Debuting this week, the remaster of the 2008 Japanese exclusive sold a respectable 10,712 copies, beating the PS4 release which shifted a comparative 9,031.

This was not enough to challenge any of the highest-selling games this week, however, all of which are the usual suspects from Nintendo. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe takes the top spot for the third week in a row, selling 32,132 copies (around half of last week’s total), while Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Splatoon 3 continue to show their longevity as the titles sold 20,889 and 15,861 copies respectively.

the 2D exploration-adventure, Ib, also made its Japanese debut this week, filling a gap in the charts with a nice 9,080 sales. As for last week’s surprise appearance from Metroid Prime Remastered, it’s nowhere to be seen in the top ten this time around.

Onto the hardware charts, and this week once again sees Sony’s PS5 come out on top with 51,510 sales, compared to the Switch OLED in second with 37,373.

The remaining members of the Switch family land in fourth and fifth positions respectively, as Microsoft’s Xbox Series X makes an unusual leap into the thousands of weekly sales.
