High On Life has launched into Xbox Game Pass with great success — according to the Xbox team, the comedic sci-fi shooter has broken two Game Pass records.
Just this week, High On Life was seen to overtake Minecraft as the current most popular Xbox Game Pass title — suggesting it’ll soon earn a place on our list of the best games on Game Pass — and now it seems the game has managed to break two Game Pass records into the bargain.
High On Life manages to break Xbox Game Pass records
High On Life “is Xbox Game Pass’ biggest launch of 2022, the biggest third party Game Pass launch of all time, and the biggest release of a single player-only game in the service’s history,” says Xbox Wire editor-in-chief Joe Skrebels, adding that “those stats are measured in terms of engagement, based on the number of hours played in the first five days of release.”
Squanch Games studio director and COO Mike Fridley adds, “This was our first time launching a game with Game Pass, and we’ve been blown away by the response from the players who have made us the most popular game on Game Pass right now. When Squanch Games was first created, it was to make the games we wanted to play — and Game Pass is helping us reach the players that want to play those games too.”
High On Life shot into the top three of the TrueAchievements Gameplay Chart of popular Xbox games — overtaking Fortnite — and over 130,000 TrueAchievements members have already picked it up. In our High On Life interview, Sqaunch Games community lead Jordyn Halpern discussed the huge impact of Game Pass, calling it an “incredibly powerful tool.”
