It may not feel like it, but it’s been nine years since Greg Street, otherwise known as “Ghostcrawler”, joined Riot Games as the executive producer of the company’s upcoming MMORPG. Last night, Street announced that his time at the company would be coming to an end. Don’t worry. This isn’t a layoff, nor is it a sign of trouble with the game.
Rather, Street has decided that now is the time to move on to something new. This decision came after a lot of consideration, both at the professional and personal levels. In his announcement, Street notes having experienced some “devastating personal losses” and wanting to be closer to his “surviving family”. He also adds that grief will bring what matters into focus, although he still doesn’t recommend it.
As for the upcoming game, he reminds fans that creating a worthy League of Legends MMO is a long journey. Over the time he’s been there, he’s built “an amazing team”, and believes the game is in good hands for the next phase. Street also added he plans to stay in game development and has several options he looking at.
