Online game publisher gamigo is done with the teasing and has revealed what the mystery MMO they’ve been dropping hints about actually is titled. Our first guess was definitely wrong, although I’m pretty sure we saw some people on Twitter guess correctly a while back, but the guessing’s over now and we know that the game in question is Dynamight Studios’ Fractured Online.
The isometric open-world MMO offers players three races to choose from, and each will determine how they play. Demons, the aggressors in this world – and therefore the villains in almost any other MMO in existence – are one of the playable choices, along with the peaceful Wildfolk, and the more ambiguous Humans. Playing as Wildfolk will require players to cooperate and focus on defensive gameplay while playing as a demon is a completely different experience, focusing on embracing evil and bringing despair and terror to those around them. For those looking for a more middle-of-the-road option, that’s where the humans come in. Ride the line between freedom and trying to follow the rules.
Rather than using the traditional level and progression system, Fractured Online focuses on the accumulation of knowledge to improve characters. The Knowledge System rewards players for being “courageous and clever” rather than focusing on all the kills. The game also forgoes loot drops in favor of crafting and a player-driven economy. If there’s something you need, it’s likely that someone out there is making and selling it.
That’s not to say players won’t be fighting. A good fight is still an excellent way to settle things so the game offers fast-paced action combat in which players can learn over 400 abilities and 40 status effects.
No official launch date has been provided for Fractured Online just yet. It’s in Alpha right now. That said, the website does have options to sign up for free (and hope for the best) or obtain access by purchasing one of five packs. The least expensive pack is $25 and offers guaranteed access to the beta, while the others range from $50 to $300 and offer access to the current alpha testing phase.
