When you think of Elite Dangerous, you probably think of cruising through space in your, well, spaceship. For a few years, though, Frontier Developments has been pushing the ground game in the interplanetary MMO, and today’s Update 9 adds some swift and deadly wheels to spacers’ arsenal.
The Vodel Scorpion SRV is described as a “twin-seat infantry support vehicle” that can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. It sports a “high-powered laser” to deal with ground threats or a missile launcher to combat aerial foes. The video voiceover calls it “agile, armored, and ready for any challenge,” which sounds like a futuristic car commercial that you might expect to see during a football game.
Also included in Update 9 is a new module, the Multi-Limpet Controller, which lets players deploy multiple limpet types in the same slot. Both the SRV (for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey players) and Multi-Limpet Controller (for base Elite Dangerous players) can be purchased from vendors in the game.
For more on the launch of the update, check out the post on the ED site or peruse the patch notes on the forums, which go into greater detail regarding new mission providers, lighting improvements on planets, module management, optimization, and stability.
