Will Dark and Darker already go dark, even after immediately sparking massive attention? A developer at Ironmace, the developer and publisher of the dungeon crawler RPG, revealed in a recent Q&A that the game will be unable to stay alive with game sales alone.
In an official Discord discussion on March 5, players were curious about the monetization model for the game. Team member “SDF” said that sales of Dark and Darker “can’t cover the cost of running servers on an ongoing basis.” Ironmace is uncertain about how to make money yet. That being said, they added there will “absolutely” be zero pay-to-win methods, according to PC Gamer.
SDF also pointed out the team is currently “understaffed,” despite there being “no more seats in the office”. Staff have apparently been forced to move their desks closer together. There’s also no price point set for the game at this time.
This comes amid accusations of theft from Nexon, accusations that Ironmace denies.
