CyberMedia Research (CMR) posted a quarterly analysis of the tablet market in India, and the results for Q3 revealed a healthy increase across all price segments. Sales of 5G tablets increased 61% on a quarterly basis, Wi-Fi tablets sales grew 41% over the same period, while 4G slates jumped “only” 9%.
Samsung, Lenovo, and Apple are the undisputed leaders on the market, with the Top 3 companies selling three of every four tablets in the past quarter.
According to CMR analysts, the gain in shipments of 5G tablets is driven by the beginning of the 5G era in India, and the growth is similar to the trends seen in the smartphone market. However, the best-selling devices of Samsung, Lenovo, and Apple were predominantly Wi-Fi-only affordable models.
The Galaxy Tab A8 and Tab A7 Lite were the best-selling Samsung devices. Half of Lenovo sales were of the Tab M8 (HD) models, with and without LTE capabilities. Apple mostly sold the Wi-Fi version of the iPad 9th gen, which is the 10.2 (2021) model.
CMR analysts predict the consumer and enterprise demand for hybrid work will be the main driver toward a record 10-15% growth in 2022. Manufacturers are relying on attractive offers and aggressive discounts, which is easier for the bigger makers such as Samsung and Lenovo, allowing them to solidify their top positions.
