Chivalry 2 is now out and in the hands of the players, but Torn Banner Studios’ CEO and creative director, Steve Piggott, says that the game was released as a foundation for the content to come. The game was shown in a new trailer during the PC Gaming Show 2021, featuring some of the in-progress content that the team’s working on. First of these things is Galencourt, a Team Objective map that showcases the elegance of ‘high medieval’ architecture, which fits perfectly with the Argathian ideals — you also get to blow up a ship, so this map is already a winner in our eyes. You’ll also notice that the video shows mounted combat and new weapons, which Torn Banner says is just the start of its post-launch content.
“Chivalry 2 at launch is a foundation. It’s intentionally built to be extended,” says Piggott. “Post-launch content is something we’re going to be working on for a long time. The game is going to at least double in size for free.”
It sounds like there might be a host of reasons to revisit the chaos that is Chivalry 2. We gave the game a solid 4/5 in our official site review, noting that “aside from a few minor issues, the game feels polished throughout,” so returning to the game will be a very welcome experience.
