Now that Dragonflight is out, Blizzard is ready to get things rolling with the game’s annual esports seasons. This year, things are going to be a bit different with the Arena World Championship consisting of two full seasons while the Mythic Dungeon International will feature two formats: the standard one and The Great Push. Between the different events, Blizzard plans to award players more than $1.6 million USD.
Season one of the Dragonflight AWC is now open for signups in both Europe and North America. Players can sign up on GameBattles to participate in the Season 1 Cups. There are four cups in total. The top three teams to come out of the cups will progress immediately to the Grand finals, where $300k is on the line. Those who come in 4th – 8th place in the cups will compete for the last spot in the Finals in the AWC Gauntlet, where there’s a $20,000 prize pool. Things kick off on January 18, 2023, with the AWC Cup 1 Open Bracket.
As for the Mythic Dungeon International and The Great Push, each will be its own season with the MDI taking Season one and offering players a total prize pool of $390k. $300k of the MDI prize pool will be awarded during the Global Finals. The remaining 90K will be broken down into $30k each for the three groups of 8 teams that will be competing to make it into the finals. This season kicks off on February 1. Sign-ups are open now.
The great Push will take place later in the year and feature a $300,000 prize pool for the Global Finals.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
